The existing GMWC wastewater treatment facility was constructed in phases with the initial operation being commissioned in 1994. The current facility is a chemically enhanced primary treatment plant with an average day capacity of 115,000 m3/d. A site plan depicting the existing plant is provided in figure 2.1 below. 

The WWTF Upgrade and Modernization Project began in 2017 and is expected to be complete in 2020 with the completion of site works (landscaping, curbs and asphalt). A future site plan is provided in Figure 2.2 below.
