Managing biosolids is a critical part of responsible wastewater treatment. The current Biosolids Management Strategy is being reviewed to address increasing biosolids volumes, rising operational costs, emerging regulatory controls and market opportunities. The current program’s performance was evaluated, alternative programs were identified and evaluated, and TransAqua wishes to implement a forward-looking strategy that supports financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, environmental responsibility, and community acceptance.

Each session will begin at 7:00 PM and run approximately one hour, with a presentation by TransAqua followed by a Q&A / open house format.

Purpose

These Public Engagement Sessions are designed to:

  •     Present current and alternative biosolids management options, including, financial, operational and environmental sustainability

  •     Receive feedback from citizens, community groups, businesses, and environmental stakeholders about their priorities, concerns, and suggestions
  •     Ensure that the tri-community is well-informed and involved in decision-making processes that affect public health, environmental quality, and community sustainability

Why It Matters

TransAqua has long emphasized operating in the public interest. Public input is essential in shaping how TransAqua manages its biosolids in the future. These sessions provide the opportunity for TransAqua’s stakeholders and the public to give their feedback on TransAqua’s current Biosolids Management Program and alternative programs.
